Holy Sword “Lightbringer”
A holy sword once wielded by a Hero in another world before that world was fused with Earth. Spirits had gathered stardust, an ancient dragon had forged it within its own body, and with the dragon’s death it was born as a “Lightbringer.”
It possesses special effectiveness against the Undead, Spirits, Evil, Demons, and Mana Creatures. It had strong resistance to attacks from dragonkind. It grants recovery of stamina, mana, and vitality. Mental magic is nullified, and magical attacks of intermediate level or lower are rendered ineffective.
It connects to the owner’s soul and refuses use by anyone other than its rightful wielder.
Although extremely sturdy, its blade is dull—so dull that even if one’s hand slipped along it, it would not cut the skin. Its cutting power comes from a magical blade formed of mana imbued within the sword; rather than slicing, its true strength lies in sword strikes that “strike down” enemies through magical impact. This is a function befitting a holy sword meant to destroy the Undead, Demons, and Mana Creatures, against whom simple physical cuts are ineffective.
Secondarily, it is exceptionally useful for “holding back,” allowing the wielder to strike with the intent of dealing damage without killing. The Hero who had once wielded it was said to have caused almost no fatalities in battles against people thanks to this property.
By virtue of its origin, it possesses divinity and holiness, but the wielder does not actually need to be a good person. The former Hero had merely happened to be someone of strong moral character; Lightbringer itself has no will of its own.
The blade length is one meter, with a width of eighteen centimeters—a hand-and-a-half sword.
There is a hook-like fitting with ornamentation attached to the guard, a practical metal fixture the Hero had commissioned from a dwarf craftsman. When not in use, it appears a dull iron color. When wielded, it is accompanied by a pale bluish glow.
Cursed Sword “Kagetsu”
A cursed blade that came into being through distortions caused by the world fusion of 1999.
Its origin is an unremarkable, unnamed sword once carried by an unknown samurai. After cutting down bandits in the mountains, the samurai discarded the broken blade on the spot.
Using this nameless sword as a vessel, innumerable memories of battle converged along with the distortions of the world fusion, becoming fixed as the cursed sword “Kagetsu.”
Though it takes the shape of a blade, its true nature is a cursed tool that draws forth “the future in which the target was severed.” Actions such as swinging or thrusting the sword function as ritual forms that activate its curse. As a curse born from distortions of the world itself, anything that exists within the world can be “cut” without exception.
It floods the wielder with countless memories of battle, forcibly transforming them into a “master.” Because it is a cursed tool, it has no scabbard; since the curse activates by becoming one with the wielder’s soul, the wielder themselves effectively serve as its scabbard. When not in combat, it is stored within the body (within the soul), and when used, the cursed sword is dragged out from within the wielder.
As with Lightbringer, the blade itself has no will. However, due to the effects of the “memories of battle” flowing into the wielder, it semi-forcibly compels optimal actions during combat, ignoring the wielder’s own intentions. This merely reflects its inherent properties; it is not that the sword itself seeks blood, nor does it possess any intent or direction of its own.
The blade measures two shaku three sun (approximately seventy centimeters). The blade is dark crimson, with a black guard and black hilt. A decorative cord at the pommel is loosely wrapped around the wielder’s wrist. The nature of being a cursed tool unified with the wielder’s soul manifests in this cord: even if the sword is thrown or dropped, pulling the cord would return it to the wielder’s hand instantly. The cord can extend and contract, but it can not allow the sword to stray farther from the wielder than necessary.
When combat ends, it appears to break down into particles and “melt away into space,” but in reality it is being stored within the wielder’s body.
