Chapter 11 (Bulletin Board)

[Miracle] Thread Discussing A-Rank Explorer Clan “Anthem” (Isolated) 75 [Act of God or Man-Made Disaster]

331 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Anyway, I’m just really glad. This time was seriously dangerous.

332 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

I’m really glad too.
I legit cried at Megu-tan’s scream and then the exchange with Chii-chan.
In moments like that, you honestly think, “Someone, please save them.”

333 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Mood.

334 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Word.

335 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

‘Word’ in the modern age lol
Are there old guys watching Anthem too? lmao

336 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Those sparkling young girls are pure nourishment for the soul, after all.
TV idols show their greed way too obviously.
The Anthem girls really are giving it their all.
That’s why I was truly relieved they made it out alive this time.

337 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

So, with that said—let’s get to the main topic.

338 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Right.

339 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

This is an isolated thread, after all.
Which means discussion of people other than Anthem members is allowed.

340 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

As long as it’s about people around the members, anyway.

341 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

  • Anthem received a request to explore the Kamioka Dungeon (B-Rank) in S City, XX Prefecture
  • Anthem accepted and headed to S City
  • There was a livestream from a city hotel the day before the exploration
  • The exploration team consisted of the leader Megu-tan, samurai girl Chizuru, saint Airi, and their usual camera operator Sanagi-chan. Aside from Sanagi-chan, who was C-Rank, all were A-Rank explorers
  • The exploration proceeded smoothly through about the mid-layers; the interactions between the Anthem members were precious as ever
  • Past the mid-layers, discrepancies began appearing between the map and the actual dungeon layout (Airi suggested it might be a “dungeon mutation”)
  • Floor 14 underground: where a maze should have continued, there was instead a large chamber, with a dragon at the back (later it was revealed that a black-armored monster had been hiding behind the dragon)
  • At first the battle situation was evenly matched, but it completely collapsed when Sanagi-chan, the filming operator, was knocked unconscious. At that point the streaming camera was thrown onto the floor, and for a while the viewers could only follow the situation through audio. It was the worst stretch of time imaginable.
  • The Black Knight appeared on the battlefield and took Airi hostage (speculation).
  • With the coordinated assault of the dragon and the Black Knight, Megu-tan and Chizuru were driven into a corner (speculation).
  • Given the circumstances, the correct move would have been to abandon Sanagi-chan and Airi and flee to the lower floors. But their leader, Megu-tan, couldn’t choose that option. Megu-tan and Chizuru steeled themselves. I completely broke down crying here. I prayed—actually prayed—for someone to help them.
  • And then, something strange happened.
  • A mysterious blonde female swordsman suddenly appeared and sent the dragon flying (the camera was still on the ground, so this part is also speculation).
  • Another person appeared just as suddenly: a guy in work clothes at the scene. He picked up the camera and muttered in surprise, “This is really expensive.” I was utterly confused. Who the hell was this guy?
  • The worksite bro handled the camera pretty roughly as he approached Megu-tan and Chizuru, then, with slightly awkward, socially inept-sounding speech, handed the camera to Chizuru. I was confused, and it seemed Megu-tan and Chizuru were just as confused.
  • For a while after that, Chizuru kept pointing the camera either at the worksite bro or at the fight between the female swordsman and the dragon. It really drove home how necessary a dedicated camera operator was.
  • Megu-tan suddenly remembered Airi, who was being held by the Black Knight. For some reason, she asked the worksite bro for help. Honestly, I wanted someone to help too, so I can’t blame her.
  • The Black Knight tossed Airi onto the floor and approached the worksite bro.
  • The worksite bro drew a creepy-looking blade from the palm of his hand.
  • From an absolutely impossible distance, the worksite bro swung the blade and cleaved the Black Knight in two. (At that moment, Chizuru let out a sultry “Ahh♥,” and I definitely did not miss it.)
  • Boss defeated. The worksite bro dumped an explanation of the situation onto us viewers, then picked up the Black Knight’s magic core and the dragon’s boss drops. Even with the volume maxed out, we couldn’t make out the conversation between him and the female swordsman, but judging from their attitude and the atmosphere, the two of them seemed to know each other.
  • Although it wasn’t shown on camera (partway through, Chizuru was only filming the worksite bro), apparently the female swordsman cast healing magic on Airi. Everyone’s safety was confirmed.
  • Megu-tan broke down in tears, and Chizuru just stared blankly at the worksite bro, so Airi checked the stream and ended up asking us viewers for the details.
  • After that, Megu-tan and Chizuru joined in, and we had a brief conversation with them as viewers before the stream ended.
  • Most likely, staff from the S City Dungeon Division headed out to conduct the rescue.
  • With the tension finally gone, I realized I’d cried so much my throat hurt—and that I’d been holding it in the whole time—so I went to the bathroom.

That’s my report on yesterday’s Kamioka Dungeon exploration stream, with as much subjectivity removed as possible.

Sorry for the long post.

342 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

(“With the subjectivity removed”… huh?)

343 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Well, they did add “as much as possible” as a caveat, so… yeah.
Still, I kind of get how they feel.
I’m a Chii-chan stan, though, so that one point I can’t agree on.

344 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

>343
Please remove the subjectivity as much as possible.

345 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Says you.

346 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

But seriously, who were that female swordsman and the worksite bro?
The female swordsman barely got any close-ups on screen, but she was absolutely overwhelming a dragon that Megu-tan and the others could only barely hold off together—and she did it solo.

347 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

And that worksite bro too.
What the hell was that sword?
I swear I felt cursed just watching it through the stream.
How does someone even pull something like that out of their palm, all dragging and sliding like that?

348 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Doesn’t it feel like maybe… we witnessed something incredible?

349 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Feels like it, but we technically didn’t witness it in person.

350 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

We’re witnesses, though.
Looks like clipped videos are spreading all over SNS already.
Trending words are “Anthem,” “Dungeon Mutation,” and “Dragon Slayer.”

351 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

What about “worksite bro”?

352 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Probably because that sword was so creepy, there weren’t many clippers touching it.
Because of that, views ended up concentrating on a single video instead.
Trending word is “Cursed Sword ‘Kagetsu.’”

353 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

The worksite bro himself said it, after all.
I’m seriously grateful he helped them, but that sword was a no-go.
Way too unsettling.
It turned to dust and vanished after he was done using it, too.
I’d bet money on it—that thing was bad news.

354 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

(Incidentally, Chizuru totally had a womanly face there.)

355 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Maybe as a fellow sword user, she felt something?
She was clearly letting out a girly voice after the worksite bro drew the cursed blade.
Might be an “accursed object” for Chizuru fans too.

356 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

>354, 355
You two—step forward and face judgment.

357 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Anyway, we probably won’t know more until tomorrow or later.
No matter how you look at it, Anthem should be made to rest.
No idea what S City’s Dungeon Division will do about the worksite bro and the female swordsman, but… as a clan, Anthem will probably give them some kind of reward.
There might be an explanation on Anthem’s stream.

358 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

But seriously, they weren’t famous explorers, right?
They overwhelmed a dragon that two A-Rank explorers couldn’t beat.
There’s no way names like that wouldn’t be known—yet even I, an explorer junkie, can’t place them. I’ve been searching nonstop.
Maybe overseas explorers who just happened to be in the Kamioka Dungeon?

359 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Then what was the worksite bro supposed to be?
He didn’t feel like an overseas explorer at all.

360 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

I kind of liked him because he seemed a bit socially awkward.
If he were an extrovert, he’d definitely have gently comforted Megu-tan and raised flags all over the place.
If he hadn’t been an introvert, I wouldn’t have been able to handle it.

361 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

“Raised stiff flags” (if you know what I mean).

362 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Are those really flags?

363 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

But still… I’m really glad.

364 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

>363
Mood.

365 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Word.

366 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Stop repeating it already lol
Alright, I’m heading to bed.
You guys should turn in once there’s a good break too.

367 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

I literally just woke up and missed the whole discussion.

368 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Go lurk for thirty minutes.

369 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

So short lol

370 Anonymous Trapped in the Dungeon

Well, half a year would be too long.1

Author’s note:

Mo (greeting).

This is the author, Momonga. So with that, it kind of feels like I could end things here with a “So, how did you like Twin-Blade Vagabond up to this point?”—but the story is nowhere near over yet.

That said, while I’d been updating daily up to now, due to my backlog running thin I’ll be slowing the update pace. Up through Chapter 15, it’ll be once every two days. From Chapter 16 onward (once December starts), it’ll be three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I’ll probably update a lot toward the end of the year. If that sounds like a hassle to keep track of, following the novel should send you notifications. I think.2

I don’t want to interrupt the story too much, so I won’t dwell on this, but if you thought it was fun, want to read more, or feel like cheering me on just a little, I’d be happy if you left a ★. That’s purely because it makes the author, Momonga, very happy. Thank you in advance.

Anyway, thank you very much for reading this far.

The story will continue, so if you’d like, I hope you’ll look forward to what comes next.

See you around.

  1. Lurk for half a year is a phrase people on JP boards use so its a joke about that.
  2. Right now, the raws are at chapter 35, three chapters into volume 2, and updating daily. It’s been gaining quite a popularity and has been number one on the monthly ranking since it started releasing. If it maintains this pace we’re probably going to see an LN and/or a manga adaptation in the coming year.
